I am a fully qualified Counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions
Trusted through experience
I was born and raised in Cheshire and after many years working successfully in the commercial world, I realised that my strengths lay within the relationships I built with people, both colleagues and clients.
I wanted to re-direct these skills into something more in tune with my personality and my desire to help people overcome life’s difficulties and reach their full potential. This, together with my own life experiences, challenges and losses brought me to the world of counselling.
After many years of re-training, I am a fully qualified Counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
At all times I adopt the BACP values of integrity and respect and their website provides comprehensive information on all aspects of counselling.
There are many different theoretical approaches used within Counselling. I was trained as an Integrative Counsellor and have a strong grounding in the person-centred approach yet often draw upon other approaches such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and TA (Transactional Analysis) and Mindfulness. This will always depend on the needs of each individual client.
Each person is unique and each counselling relationship is tailored to best suit the thoughts and feelings of each individual client. I consider myself so fortunate to have worked with many clients who have overcome obstacles in life and ‘moved’ to places that they never thought possible.
Underpinning any counselling theory is the therapeutic relationship between Counsellor and Client.
I aim to support you and offer you the conditions needed to help you to begin to develop your own inner resources. I bring my authentic self to each client and each session and am passionate about the work I do.
I have also spent 8 years working as a part-time Volunteer Counsellor in the Macmillan Cancer Resource Centre at Macclesfield Hospital, working with both cancer patients and their families.
